Desalination, chemical and industrial park water projects are increasing along the coast. The medium is high in salt and highly corrosive, and both buried and above-ground sections need more from the coating than ordinary water service.
TPEP — epoxy plus polyethylene — is being used more in this service: the epoxy gives adhesion and cathodic disbondment resistance, the polyethylene gives impermeability and mechanical protection, and an adhesive tie layer bonds the two.
Two points to watch. First, temperature rating: for hotter media, confirm the rating of adhesive and polyethylene. Second, weld-end cutback and joint closure — if those are done badly, the weak point of the whole line sits there.
For acceptance: sample coating thickness, adhesion (pull-off or cross-cut) and holiday detection pipe by pipe or by batch, and keep the records.
Tell us the medium, diameter and design pressure — our engineers will answer with a specification, not a brochure.
