Largest-diameter coating line in North China (DN3800)
  • Epoxy or polyethylene coating on both the inside and outside — the steel carries the pressure, the coating carries the corrosion fight.
  • Smooth internal surface, Hazen-Williams coefficient far above bare or galvanised steel, so the same duty needs a smaller diameter.
  • Internal epoxy can be supplied to drinking-water contact requirements.
  • Coating line handles up to DN3800 — one of the largest capacities in North China.

Product Detail

Plastic-coated composite pipe combines the mechanical strength of a steel pipe with the corrosion resistance of a polymer coating. The steel carries the internal pressure and the external loads; the coating isolates the steel from water, soil and dissolved chemicals — so you get a service life far longer than bare or galvanised pipe at a lower cost than stainless.

The coating quality is decided by surface preparation. We shot-blast the pipe to Sa 2.5, heat it, then apply epoxy by electrostatic spray or polyethylene by fluidised-bed dipping, followed by curing and full-surface holiday detection.

Internal epoxy is the usual choice for potable water because it is smooth, non-toxic after curing and does not affect taste. External polyethylene is preferred for buried service because of its impact and soil-stress resistance. A combined internal-epoxy / external-PE build-up is available for buried potable water lines.

Connections can be grooved, flanged, threaded or welded with on-site coating repair. Tell us your medium, temperature and connection method and we will specify the build-up.

Manufacturing Process

Every pipe passes through the same controlled route, with inspection points at each stage.

1

Base Pipe Inspection

Check straightness, ovality and weld bead height before coating.

2

Shot Blasting & Heating

Sa 2.5 blast with anchor profile, then induction heating.

3

Coating Application

EP by electrostatic spray or PE by fluidised-bed dipping.

4

Curing

Controlled curing to achieve full cross-linking and adhesion.

5

Holiday Detection

100% holiday detection on the coated surface, repairs as required.

6

End Finishing & Marking

Ends chamfered, protective caps fitted, pipes stencilled.

Packing & Shipping

  • 1Bare pipe bundled with steel straps, end protectors fitted
  • 2seaworthy packing with woven bags / plastic caps for coated pipe
  • 3Bulk vessel, flat rack or 40' open top container available
  • 4Each bundle tagged with heat number, size, standard and length
  • Frequently Asked Questions

Epoxy gives better adhesion and a smoother bore, best for internal lining and potable water. Polyethylene is tougher and preferred for external buried service. Internal EP + external PE is the common combination.
Yes, internal epoxy systems can be supplied and tested to drinking-water contact requirements. Ask for the hygiene test report with your quotation.
After welding, the heat-affected zone is cleaned and repaired with a two-part liquid epoxy or heat-shrink sleeve to restore continuity.
With correct specification, coating build-up and installation, plastic-coated composite pipe is typically designed for a service life of 30–50 years in water service.
