Geothermal district heating on the plateau; PU pre-insulated steel pipe supplied for 4,500 m altitude service.
The project sits at roughly 4,500 m above sea level in the southern new district of Seni, Nagqu, and uses geothermal heat for district heating. On the plateau the daily temperature swing is wide and UV exposure is strong, so the insulation and the outer jacket have to cope with low temperature and intense sunlight at the same time.
Supply centred on PU prefabricated directly-buried insulated steel pipe. Insulation thickness was selected against the plateau heat-loss target, the jacket is HDPE, pipe ends are sealed against water ingress, and joint-closure and insulation make-up kits were delivered with the line so the insulation stays continuous with no thermal bridge.
